Karl's Act of Kindness Makes the News!

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and his helper's name is Karl.

Remember the random act of kindness I wrote about last week? A fellow named Karl found the lost postcard I wrote to my daughter and he took the time to add a note and pop the card in the mail? Well, the story and the photo of the Postcard Wall is going in this Saturday's edition of the Montreal Gazette.

Three cheers for Karl, and for good people everywhere!

Our girl is on the train and heading home as I type this. Tomorrow morning I will pick her up at the station after her 17 hour journey, and we'll go out for a big breakfast at Chez Cora's and talk for a bit and get caught up in each other's lives. Then she'll probably curl up with Buddy and nap on the couch while I light a fire, play some carols, and bake some ginger cookies and pecan shortbread and buttertarts.

Ah, life is good when the kids all come home at Christmas.

Happy Holidays Karl, wherever you are. I hope you read the Gazette so you will know how much that seemingly tiny gesture was actually pretty grand.

To my new BFF (who I know knows the difference between "your" and "you're"),

Oooh, I hope Karl sees it!!! I'm rooting for Karl!

(P.S. Enjoy having a full house)

BTW, the "Canadian, Please" song is insidious. It's stuck in my brain now--can't get it out!

Me too! Those types of songs are known as brain worms. Oy... at least I don't have it on my iPod. I'd never sleep....

OMGosh! This story keeps getting better and better! Please give us a link when the story appears so we can read it!

Pretty awesome. And it's nice to know that there's more to the news then the bad stuff that happens. So yes, please, a link when it's up. :)

No earworms for me either, please! I just got rid of It's A Small World yesterday. That one stuck around three days.

I hope that Karl sees it as well. Pretty cool, NW! I believe that the masses are clamboring for a link. And we ain't talking sausage neither, sistah!

Nightsmusic, don't even bring that song up when you're around me. The one and only time I went to Disney World was when I was eighteen, and I went with my parents, sisters and brother. Besides the fact that I came home with lice, we all got stuck on one of those theme rides when it broke down. We were inside this cavernous dome, surrounded not only by water (which meant no quick exit) but by hundreds of spinning dolls singing that very song. For hours. HOURS. I still can't hear it without suppressing a shudder.

I'll post a link later, but really, it's the same thing I said here.

Well, I hope you're happy. Because it's back!

And I'm so sorry you had such a life altering experience. hehe

Seriously though, that really is awful.

Really.

(still laughing here...)

Oh, man. Talk about a trauma...

OK I was enjoying this post right up until the Disneyland Small World ride nightmare... OMG. I shall have night terrors about that... it freaked me out when the thing kept moving, I suspect I would have to dive in and swim out if the conveyor belt seized up.

And show us the link anyway - sure no-one could do it as much justice as you, but it's always cool to see 'em try. (I am suddenly all punctuation-aware and hideously self-conscious about my bad grammar after Diane T's comment!)

Omigosh, Bush Babe misunderstood my teasing! Now I'll be worried about my grammar, too. Oh, no! (slapping hand to forehead)

When Pamela caught her own typo she was so funny about it--just wanted to assure her that I knew it was a typo.

Of course, I couldn't resist a little teasing since I can totally relate. (self-deprecating laugh...)

Phhht, Diane I knew what you meant, and so did BB! If you think I make egregious typos and grammar goofs, you should hear me try to pronounce words I've only read but never actually said aloud. I've had some juicy ones.

Recent example? My good friend Laura B. of The Grape Journal brought up the word segue, which I thought was pronounce see-guh (hard g) not seg-way. Who knew? I mean, I knew what segue meant, but I thought it was spelled like it sounded. Gah.

Never, ever be afraid to make spelling or punctuation errors here, my friends. I am not a member of the Grammar SS.

BB, I was ready to gouge out my eardrums and eyeballs after hours of those spinning crazy dolls. Horrors...
